slopstarter

Terms of service

Last updated September 25, 2026.

Draft: the bracketed details below are placeholders and need to be completed before this page is published.

These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name] ("Slopstarter", "we") and apply whenever you use Slopstarter — to browse, back a campaign, contribute to a fund, or create a project. By creating an account or making a payment you accept them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

1. What Slopstarter does

Slopstarter lets people fund AI usage for creators and projects. Money you contribute is turned into AI credit — usage of Claude Fable 5.1 / GPT-6 Astra — which the recipient spends through a spend-capped API key or allocation.

AI credit is not money. It is never paid out as cash, can't be withdrawn to a bank account, carries no interest or return, and is not a deposit, loan, investment or share in any project. Token amounts shown on the site are estimates; actual usage depends on the model and on provider pricing at the time it is used.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • Give accurate information and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One person, one account — don't create accounts to vote more than once or to get around a suspension.
  • You can back a campaign as a guest; the parts of these terms about backing still apply.

3. Backing a campaign

Campaigns are all-or-nothing. When you pledge, your payment is authorized but not charged. If the campaign reaches its goal by its deadline, every pledge is charged and becomes AI credit for the creator. If it doesn't, every pledge is released and nobody is charged.

Until the deadline, you can change or cancel a pledge — from the campaign page if you pledged with an account, or with the link in your pledge email if you pledged as a guest. In the final 24 hours, you can't lower or cancel a pledge if that would take a campaign that has reached its goal back below it.

Backing a campaign is support for a project, not a purchase from Slopstarter. The creator — not Slopstarter — is responsible for the project and for any reward they promise. We don't guarantee that a project will be finished or that rewards will be delivered.

4. Contributing to a fund

A fund pools contributions without one fixed owner. Contributions are held as AI credit until contributors vote a developer's proposal through; the credit is then released to that developer. Only contributors can vote, one vote per person per proposal, and votes can't be changed. Contributions to a fund can't be withdrawn once made.

5. Fees and payments

Backing and contributing are free for backers. Slopstarter keeps a platform fee of 5% of the money that reaches a recipient — when a campaign is funded or a fund releases credit to a proposal. Nothing is charged for campaigns that fail or proposals that are voted down.

Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider whose own terms also apply. Amounts shown in other currencies are converted for information only; the amount charged is set at checkout.

6. Refunds

Pledges to a campaign that doesn't reach its goal are released automatically, and you can cancel a pledge yourself before the deadline (see section 3). Once a pledge has been charged or a contribution has been made, it is final, because it has already become AI credit for the recipient. This doesn't limit any refund rights you have under the consumer protection law that applies to you.

7. If you create a project

  • Describe your project honestly: who you are, what the money is for, and what backers get.
  • Only use text, images and media you have the rights to. You keep ownership of your content and give us a licence to host, display and promote it on Slopstarter and in shares and embeds of your project.
  • Describe how the AI credit will be used, and keep that description accurate. You can update it as the project changes, but not remove it once backers may have relied on it.
  • Use the AI credit you receive for the project you described, and within the usage policies of the AI provider it runs on.
  • Keep backers informed with updates, and deliver the rewards you promise.
  • You're responsible for any taxes that apply to what you receive.

8. What isn't allowed

You may not use Slopstarter to:

  • defraud people, impersonate someone, or raise money under false pretences;
  • publish content you don't have the rights to;
  • promote violence, hatred or harassment, or anything illegal;
  • fund work that breaks the AI providers' usage policies, such as generating malware or sexual content involving minors;
  • resell, transfer or try to cash out AI credit or API keys;
  • spam, manipulate votes, or interfere with how the site works.

If you see a project that breaks these rules, use the "Report" link on its page. Reports go to our moderators, not to the creator.

9. Moderation, suspension and termination

We may remove content, cancel a campaign, close a fund, revoke an API key or suspend an account that breaks these terms or the law, or that puts backers at risk. If a campaign is canceled before it is funded, its pledges are released. Where we can, we'll tell you why.

You can stop using Slopstarter at any time and ask us to delete your account at [privacy@your-domain.example]. AI credit already released to you remains subject to these terms until it is used or revoked.

10. Liability

Slopstarter is provided "as is". We rely on third parties — payment providers and AI providers — and aren't responsible for their outages, pricing changes or decisions. We aren't a party to the relationship between creators and backers.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the fees we received in connection with your use of Slopstarter in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for intent or gross negligence.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. Continuing to use Slopstarter after that means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of [Country / state whose law governs these terms]. Disputes go to [Courts with jurisdiction, e.g. the courts of City, Country], unless the consumer protection law of the country you live in gives you the right to bring them elsewhere.

Questions about these terms: [legal@your-domain.example]. Operator details are in the legal notice.
